“First Alaskans is a National Geographic documentary series (spin-off of Life Below Zero) focusing on Indigenous Alaskans as they navigate 21st-century challenges while preserving traditional, subsistence lifestyles. The show highlights ancestral survival techniques passed down through generations.”

I filmed with one of the show’s seasoned producers Crofton Diack and Director of Photography Brian Bitterfeld in Pedro Bay, Alaska where Joel Jacko lives in small, remote village on the northeastern tip of Iliamna Lake. Our same camera team continued on to the Cup'ik village of Chevak to film with the Pingayak family at their fish camp located on the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.
